📚 Why are we used to seeing Ukraine first and foremost as a borderland, and what opens up if we look at its history differently? Yaroslav Hrytsak, professor at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv and author of the book Ukraine: The Forging of a Nation, will speak about this.
This is the tenth annual lecture of the RAAM platform, which has existed since 2016, so the evening is also an anniversary one. Hrytsak will talk about Ukraine's own path of development, its ties with the European world and Western influences on Ukrainian society. Through them he will explain how the country's past is connected to its present.
🤝 What to expect:
- a lecture on sovereignty, civil society and the historical roots of resistance to oppression and imperial rule
- a Q&A conversation with Hrytsak, hosted by NOS journalist Kysia Hekster
- 🎶 to close, a Ukrainian chamber ensemble will perform; its name and programme have not yet been announced
🎟 The event will be held in English. A regular ticket costs €15, and for CJP holders, students and city card holders it costs €13.50. Registration required. Ticket availability and possible fees should be checked when booking.
