A theatre project that brings together Ukrainians living in the Netherlands and those who remain in Ukraine. It is a performance about home, belonging, loss, and the bond between people separated by thousands of kilometres. Through the personal stories of its participants, the project explores how our idea of home changes and what it means to remain part of a community when war forces people to live in different countries.
“Letters home” was created by United Ukrainian Theatre in the Netherlands together with the Theatre Platform “Actor’s House” (Dim aktora) in Zaporizhzhia.
The project involves professional actors, forcibly displaced Ukrainians, and war veterans from Ukraine and the Netherlands. The performance shows radically different experiences of one and the same war. The stories of different people reveal the complex reality of Ukrainian society after four years of full-scale war, and at the same time show the connection that Ukrainians continue to feel with one another despite distance and borders.
An open discussion will take place after the performance.
