🕯 Forty years on, Chernobyl is still visible in landscapes, in human lives, and in debates about nuclear energy and state secrets. This conversation, held as part of the Eastern Neighbours Film Festival, looks at what is remembered from the catastrophe, what people prefer to forget, and how documentary film gives a voice back to experiences that had no place in the official versions.

The participants will also talk about present-day Ukraine, where a new war has once again drawn the world's attention to Chernobyl. The key question: what can personal testimony and film imagery add to the conversation about truth, responsibility, and environmental disasters.

🎬 Guests:

  • Liubov Knorozok, producer of the film Special Operation
  • Kristina Mykhailova, director of River Dreams
  • Assel Kadyrkhanova, visual artist and researcher

It will be of interest to anyone fascinated by film, history, and the politics of memory. Please note that this is a standalone discussion, not a film screening.

🎟 Entry is free, but you must book a ticket in advance. The conversation lasts about an hour and is held in English, without subtitles. If you need space for a wheelchair, please contact the cinema box office in advance.
