Ukrainian International Ballet — INdependent24

🩰 INdependent24 is an evening of contemporary choreography in which Ukrainian dancers tell their stories through the language of the body: about identity, forced relocation and the search for one's place. Ukrainian International Ballet grew out of the Ukrainian dance community in the Netherlands and combines classical ballet training with contemporary movement.

🎭 The programme features two productions. Emotions by choreographer Dmytro Borodai is built on the story of veteran Andrii Siromakha, who lost an arm and a leg in the war. He takes the stage himself, and the performance becomes a personal conversation about the limits of the body, resilience and movement beyond conventional ideas of what a dancer is.

In de/het/één, Rishel Viles draws on the experience of ten Ukrainian dancers who are settling in the Netherlands. Humor and everyday observations sit alongside stories of a lost home and attempts to take root in a new society. The piece features recorded interviews and music by composer Yurii Shepeta.

Good to know: this is not a classical narrative ballet, but contemporary choreography and live testimonies of the people standing on stage.

🎟 Tickets cost from €12.50 to €29.50 depending on seating category; youth and CJP tickets are €15. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
