Carmina Burana — National Opera and Ballet of Ukraine, Odesa

🎶 The Odesa Opera and Ballet is bringing Carl Orff's Carmina Burana to Zoetermeer, and this is not just a concert but a full stage production. There are over a hundred performers on stage, and even if you have never listened to the whole cantata, you will almost certainly recognize its rhythms and powerful chorus from the first bars.

📜 The cantata is based on medieval poems about capricious fate, love, passion and the uncertainty of life. The famous O Fortuna opens and closes the performance, and in between come loud revelries, quiet intimate scenes and a reminder that happiness and power vanish as quickly as they appear.

Dance and projections make the music a spectacle as well, so it will be interesting both to lovers of choral and symphonic music and to those who prefer theatre and ballet.
