🎶 O Fortuna is known even to those who have never listened to the whole of Carmina Burana. This time you can both hear it live and see it staged. The National Opera and Ballet of Ukraine from Odesa is bringing to the Netherlands a touring stage version of Carl Orff's cantata, featuring more than one hundred performers.
The piece is based on medieval poems about the fickleness of fate, love, desire and the uncertainty of human life. O Fortuna frames contrasting scenes: turbulent celebrations give way to intimate episodes, and at the end comes a reminder that happiness and power vanish as quickly as they appear.
🎭 What to expect:
- orchestra, choir, vocal soloists and ballet in one production
- Ihor Chernetskyi on the conductor's podium
- choreography by Gerard Mosterd
- video projections by Sibe Kokke, which add a visual dimension to the music
The evening will appeal both to those who love choral and orchestral music and to those who are more drawn to theatre and ballet.
🎟 The show lasts about two hours. A ticket costs 69 €. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and it is worth checking seat availability on the venue's website.
