Ukrainian International Ballet — INdependent24

🎭 Two productions in one evening, in which Ukrainian artists speak about themselves through the language of the body. INdependent24 by Ukrainian International Ballet tells stories about identity, forced relocation and how much movement can say.

The company was formed within the Ukrainian dance community in the Netherlands and combines classical ballet training with contemporary choreography. Good to know in advance: this is contemporary dance, not traditional narrative ballet.

💪 Emotions by choreographer Dmytro Borodai is based on the story of veteran Andrii Siromakha, who lost an arm and a leg in the war. Andrii takes the stage himself, and the performance becomes a very personal conversation about the limits of the body, resilience, and movement that does not fit the usual idea of a dancer.

🎶 de/het/één by Rishel Viles is built on the experience of ten Ukrainian dancers who are building a new life in the Netherlands. Everyday observations and humour sit alongside stories of losing a home and searching for one's place. The sound score consists of interview recordings and music by composer Yurii Shepeta.

🎟 A ticket costs 32 euros, drink included. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
